Presenters:

Samuel (Sam) Dowell, is Vice President, Pfizer Global Procurement.  Since joining Pfizer in 1998, Sam has held positions of increasing responsibility within Procurement and currently leads the Commercial Procurement organization, which is responsible for the following global categories: Media, Creative Agencies, Marketing & Sales Services, Fleet, and HR. Additionally, he leads the procurement operations teams in the international markets for all indirect spend. Prior to joining Pfizer, Sam held multiple supply chain management and purchasing positions at Ford Motor Company, and served as a Lt. Commander in the United States Navy and Naval Reserves. He received his BBA from the University of Notre Dame, and his MBA from Ball State University.

Eric Shobe, CPSM is the Vice President of Worldwide Research, Development & Medical Procurement for Pfizer.   He leads the organization responsible for developing and implementing transformational sourcing strategies that enhance R&D productivity in a cost constrained environment.  Eric was the primary driver behind applying strategic sourcing to early research collaborations and demonstrating the value that these approaches can bring to drug discovery.  His efforts were key in establishing Pfizer’s overall R&D sourcing strategy and specifically Pfizer’s Asia sourcing strategy.

Eric joined Pfizer in 2003 and has held positions of increasing responsibility in WRD Procurement. Prior to joining Pfizer, Eric came from Pharmacia with over 10 years of experience where he held procurement and scientific management positions including the R&D Procurement site manager and the manager of the Mass Spectrometry Center of Emphasis (CoE). While working as a researcher, Eric contributed to the successful NDA filing of Zyvox® and Camptosar®. He is a Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM®), completed his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Michigan State University and is a current member of the Board of Advisors for the Connecticut Institute for Supply Management.
