Join ISM-CT, APICS New Haven and ASQ for a day long seminar hosted by Quinnipiac University.  This special seminar has a great rate with an early pricing.  For those who attend the seminar, a workshop follows that evening: "Ice Cream Sundae Production."  This sponsored event is high energy with material you can use at work and in home life.  Interact with students and fellow co-workers for a day of networking, learning and fun.

Critical Thinking & Decision Making Analysis

People are challenged on a continuous basis to make decisions, sometimes on the fly, other times with the luxury of time to ponder possibilities. While many decisions may be of relatively low consequence (what to wear, what to order for lunch, which TV program to watch) there are numerous examples when we need to perform an appropriate analytical process: who to vote for, how to invest our 401K, what vehicle to buy, etc.

This highly participative session will engage participants in activities that demonstrate tips, tools and techniques for effective decision-making. It will focus on core critical analysis based on a combination of left brain and right brain approaches, i.e. both linear and creative thinking. The facilitator will provide value-added opportunities via a combination of slideshow presentation, roundtable discussion, individual and team-based exercises, and an interactive Q&A summary.

Participants will learn:

  • The definition of critical thinking
  • Fundamental analytical skills
  • Effective risk management
  • Heuristic problem solving
  • Solving ethical dilemmas
  • Quality tool trifecta
  • Leadership development
  • Overcoming fear

Ice Cream Sundae Production

Compare a job shop layout to a lean flow line while making Ice Cream Sundaes with an interactive workshop that will engage participants by role-playing as customer order entry professionals, production planners, workstation operators, inspectors or hungry customers placing orders. Participants will gain a knowledge of the advantages of empowerment and engagement, lean improvements in productivity, space requirements, lead time and quality and secrets about Lean.
