The Online Process

These interactive and instructor lead courses are offered fully online using the CANVAS learning management system. This is an asynchronous process where students log on at their convenience, typically 4-5 days a week, to access content including lectures, podcasts, videos, and relevant articles and links from business and industry sources. Each week there will be two or three discussion questions posted in an interactive forum where students will post 100 to 250 word answers to pertinent questions and comment on the post of others, adding to the collaborative feel of the class. In addition, there will be a weekly assessment assigned that will integrate the course content with real life activities in their own departments and organizations. A companion supply management related book provides additional structure to the course.

These courses are not self-directed study. They are content rich courses focused on the objectives of the course with the instructor as an active participant. In an asynchronous online course there are no scheduled group meetings. Each student is responsible to access the course content, participate in discussion forums, and complete the assessments. The learning management system is quite easy to use and participants will find it intuitive. The instructor is also available to solve technology and interface issues should they occur. Note that CANVAS can be accessed from mobile devices.
