ISM-CT Mentoring Program

Mentoring Mission Statement:

Our mission is to provide our members with increased exposure and access to our network’s talent base of supply chain professionals to support the continued professional development, learning needs and exchange of ideas among our general body. 

Our mentoring program initiates developmental relationships that bring skilled and experienced members (mentors) together with other members (mentees) for the purpose of professional growth and career management.

Role of Mentor:

A mentor’s responsibility is to provide guidance to their mentee based on their mentee’s expressed learning needs and opportunities for development. A mentor should be committed to the mentor-mentee relationship, be prepared to listen and understand the mentee’s developmental goals and respond in ways that encourage the mentee to think about ways of achieving their goals through coaching, feedback and honest discussion.  

Role of Mentee:

A mentee must acknowledge that the development of a mentee’s career can be positively influenced through a mentoring relationship and must take responsibility for setting the direction of their career and identifying developmental goals. A mentee must also be committed to receiving developmental feedback and incorporating developmental opportunities into their role to realize most value from the relationship. A mentee is responsible for initiating and driving the relationship and taking an active role in managing their career.
