1918. To me, that date for years meant the last time the Redsox won the World Series…..until 2004, that is. But now that date carries a different meaning for me – the beginning of what is now known as ISM-CT.
It is now 2018 and ISM-CT is celebrating its 100th anniversary. It is a noteworthy thing for any organization to have lasted 100 years. This group, made of volunteers, is quite a testament to the Supply Management and Procurement professionals in Connecticut and their commitment to the betterment of the profession. And we’re still going strong, as evidenced by being awarded the ISM Affiliate of the Year for 2016.
I sometimes feel like my involvement with the ISM-CT Board of Directors was flat-out lucky, in that it coincided with a time when there were and are excellent and dedicated people associated with the organization (Maybe that has been true for 100 years; I can only speak to direct experience over the last six years.). I am inclined to write a testimony for each of these people, but that has potential to run on and on. I will, however, express my admiration and gratitude for the efforts of our Executive Director, Charlotte Mihok. All of us on the Board of Directors are in agreement on this – Charlotte is the glue that holds it all together. Her knowledge, passion and demeanor have been essential in keeping ISM-CT running as successfully as it has in recent years. Thank you, Charlotte, for all of your efforts!
